Negative feelings can cause pain in certain areas

The body and soul aspire to be in harmony with one another, so it's no wonder that the mind has a great bearing on how we are feeling physically. Negative feelings such as anger, sadness, tension or guilt can cause psychosomatic pain. But what many people don't know is that we can determine what's on someone's mind by where the pain is located on their body. So where are you hurting?

Warning: always see a doctor first to make sure the pain you're feeling isn't due to physical reasons. If this doesn't help, you may want to take a look at the advice below to determine whether something on your mind is causing the pain...

1. Neck

A stiff neck can be rather painful. If your neck is hurting, it could indicate that you're obstinate and not particularly flexible. People with sore necks tend to be set in their ways and often have trouble forgiving people who they feel have wronged them. These people are also eager to please everybody, which puts them under enormous pressure and can cause neck issues.

2. Shoulders

Shoulder pain can be a sign of someone feeling that their life is one big burden. When you're feeling overwhelmed, it's particularly important to get to grips with your own emotions so that you start enjoying life again. You may also want to seek professional help in your quest for happiness.

3. Chest

Pain in your chest could be attributed to feelings of guilt. Sufferers also have problems letting something from the past go, and concentrating on the here and now.

4. Back

Your spine is a symbol of stability. Pain in this area may indicate that you're not getting enough support from those around you.

a) If you're feeling pain in your upper back, it may be because you're feeling unloved by others. This could also be due a lack of "self-love."

b) Sufferers of lower back pain may be having money problems or other issues that are plaguing their mind.

5. Elbow

Pain in this part of the body could point to radical changes in the person's life. It can take a while to come to terms with these changes.

6. Hips

If you feel that you're not getting ahead in life and failing to reach your goals, this can lead to hip problems. Pain in this area can also occur when you're having trouble making decisions that determine your future, as you're afraid of failure.

7. Knee

Pain around the knee may indicate commitment issues. However, this problem can also be a sign of stubbornness and pride.

8. Calves

If there's pain in your calves, you may well be under a lot of emotional stress. Your calves are more susceptible to cramping up when you're in stressful situations or feeling jealous. That's why you should try to relax more often and stop worrying all the time.

9. Ankles

The subconscious mind is holding you back from truly making the most out of life and indulging in the things that are important to you. This may be due to you worrying that you'll be punished for doing so later down the line.

10. Balls of the feet

If you're feeling pain in the balls of your feet, it could be a sign of loneliness. In this case, you should try to re-establish contact with old friends and colleagues. In addition, you can try to make new friends by taking up a new hobby, for example.

If a visit to the doctor's has done little to help, this advice may give you a better idea of why you're feeling certain aches and pains. You should do your best to try and work at these problems; don't be afraid to talk about your issues with other people or seek professional help. Psychosomatic pain can be a real burden on your life and therefore needs to be taken just as seriously as physical pain.
